The summer of CSFNSM and Città della Scienza Unict is lit up by "CIAK SI...SCIENZA!" Six evenings of cinema in which the atmospheric courtyard of Città della Scienza—adorned with its chimney, a relic of late 19th-century industrial architecture linked to the region’s thriving sulfur extraction economy—becomes the exceptional stage for a series that, after the success of the previous editions, returns to enliven Catania’s summer from July 26 through mid-September.

The intriguing duo of cinema and science defines this year’s edition of "CIAK SI...SCIENZA!"

You don’t need to be a scientist to enjoy the selected films—just bring your curiosity and hunger for knowledge. Each screening offers a journey through themes like mathematics, physics, energy, computer science, astrophysics... And viewers won’t be alone: an expert moderator will guide the audience in exploring what is scientifically real in each movie.

What is science and what is science fiction?
What can we learn from cinema about science?
What elements in these films are already real—and what might become reality in the near future?
How did we get from philosophy to the scientific method?

We’ll discover the answers together through the films and the discussions that follow.

The series will open with Interstellar by Christopher Nolan, moderated by Dr. Giuseppe Puglisi, Research Fellow at the Department of Physics and Astronomy "E. Majorana" of the University of Catania.

Inception, Her, and Fire of Love are among the other titles featured in the fourth edition of "CIAK SI...SCIENZA!", held weekly through mid-September, with a brief pause during the central two weeks of August.

All screenings start at 9:00 PM and the event—organized by CSFNSM in collaboration with Città della Scienza – Unict—is free of charge, with reservation required via the link provided.
